About nathan

Nathan Karls is a ministry leader and Catholic speaker in

Washington, D.C.

Following his conversion of heart through his own youth ministry experience, Nathan fell in love with his Catholic faith as he began to pursue the Lord. He spent multiple hours every week at Church out of love for his home parish, building his foundation on his spiritual home.

Nathan studied Marketing and Supply Chain at the Walton School of Business at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Similarly to his high school experience, after some bumps in the road, he dove into any and all aspects of life at the Catholic Campus Ministry’s Newman Center on campus. He said often, “You can find me involved in some ways in all ministry’s except two, choir and women’s group.” Through involvement in a men’s apologetics group and RCIA, Nathan had his ‘conversion of mind’ where he began to understand the depth of wisdom found in church teaching. Nathan grew to take on more and more leadership responsibility where he served on Peer Ministry Team’s, as Knights of Columbus’s Chancellor, Retreat Coordinator, Men’s Bible Study Leader, and in many other roles at church (yes, I did stack lots of chairs). A friend once called Nathan “St. Thomas Official Un-Official Intern”

After graduating, through much discernment, Nathan decided a career in ministry may be God’s call for Him in his life right now.

The Lord created a home for him at Good Shepherd Catholic Community where he began on staff as Coordinator of Middle School Youth Ministry. Over the next four years he would serve as Coordinator of Confirmation and Youth Adult Ministry and as Coordinator of High School Youth Ministry for over 3,500 families in the Colleyville, Texas. He then moved to Washington, D.C. to begin a role as Coordinator of Adult Formation and Christian Initiation in our nation’s capital. There he helped with catechetical leader training, parish formation offerings and creating a plan for their OCIA process.

Nathan works at The Basilica of St. Mary in Old Town Alexandria as

Assistant Director of Youth Ministry.

When he’s not at church you can probably find Nathan playing basketball or at a friends. He loves all things Green Bay Packers, Tracy McGrady, Legend of Zelda, Star Wars, Drake, coffee, vegetables, praise & worship, St. Joseph and of course his Catholic faith.

“i’ve come to love nathan’s intentional preparation and committment to leading students to a relationship with jesus christ.”
